The DLBT is an online database of literature in translation and adaptation, which includes both: the online-library and the online-bibliography. 

Since 2015 we collect metadata about translators, translations and adaptations, as well as reception documents. Additionally, we provide full texts of these documents. 

The DLBT  started with a research project on translations from Dutch and grew to a research infrastructure for translations/adaptations and reception documents which is not subject to any time-, space- or language-related restrictions. As such it is continously increasing (look for regularly updated figures here). 

As already stated, it all started with translations from Dutch, that provided in the beginning the basis for the DLBT. Up to now we collected almost 40.000 translations from Dutch over more than 400 years. The following visualisation is taken from the DLBT´s own tools offer.

Based on this translation data, the DLBT offers a wealth of additional information: for example, metadata on translators can be filtered using various parameters. The following example shows the top 30 translators from Dutch between 1945 and 1989.

This metadata can be further processed for different areas of application. Among other things, it can be used for an ongoing research project in which you want to identify the most productive translators in a specific period and for a specific source language. This well-founded overview serves as a starting point for further research questions and methodological approaches.
